Associating transactions to Campaigns, Opportunities, Accounts, and Events

Adding Attributes to a transaction will help identify and track the transaction. You will be able to associate a campaign, an opportunity, and account, and an event with the transaction. None of these attributes are required, however, for best practices, CharityEngine does encourage the use of these attributions.

Transaction to a Campaign

Associating a transaction with a campaign will help track campaign success and what campaigns a contact is donating to.

Any campaigns (email, mail, phone – call or text) associated with the contact record will either auto-populate or can be associated with the transactions on the Campaigns tab.

If the contact is a new donor, there will not be any campaign history attributed. Once you have toggled to yes to associate transaction to a campaign, you will be able to search for the campaign to associate the transaction to.

Opportunities

For users that have Opportunities (Moves Management) enabled and included in your contract, you can attribute the transaction to an opportunity

If the transaction is tied to a new contact record, or you were not able to find the correct opportunity form the auto-populated list, you can search for the opportunity to tie to the appropriate solicitor (owner) as this step in the create transaction workflow.

Accounts

Any sustainer, membership, or pledge information associated with an existing contact record will be located at this point in the create transaction workflow.

In order to tie the transaction you are creating to a specific account associated with the contact record, select the appropriate account by clicking on the > to the right of the account type and number

After selecting the account, you are able to tie the transaction to an installment associated with the account

Events

Under the events section, you will be able to tie the transactions to a first or third-party event (registration, donation, etc.)

In order to tie the transaction, you are creating to an event, toggle this option to “Yes”

Follow the below steps to tie the transaction to an event

  1. Select the event from the drop-down
  2. Search for the Event Microsite (P2P ID)
  3. Search for the donor’s personal page associated with the P2P event (if entering a donation to a donor’s page, this field must be populated for it to be reflected on the fundraising total).
  4. Search for the team page the donation should be associated with (same rules apply as above related to personal page attributions).
  5. Search for the grassroots event (Third Party P2P/microsite ID).

Advanced Fields

Any advanced fields, such as Fund, GL Code, Response Channel, or Custom Tracking Codes will be available to be entered and associated to the transaction in this step of the Create Transaction workflow.
