Advocacy: Location filters for Advocacy actions (listing screen) reporting

Introduction

Getting your supporters involved is paramount and for some organizations it’s not always about gaining support with financial contributions. Advocacy campaigns are one of the most powerful ways for nonprofit organizations and membership associations engage their supporters without asking for money.

The action that someone took to support the organization is almost as important as the nonprofit’s ability to understand who is engaged, so they can use that information in their lobbying efforts for public policy as well as the ability to solicit their support in the future.

The organization's admin can use location filters to better understand and engage with their supporters.



Prerequisites

Before you can automatically add tags to be attributed to the donor records from your advocacy action alert form, you’ll need to create an “issue,” which equates to the online form page that will facilitate your advocates taking action. Next, you will need advocacy to take action, by participating and completing the online action alert form. Once your supporters have taken action, you can use the advanced filters to see where these supporters reside.


Using the Advanced Filters for Advocacy Actions Reporting - Overview

[Step 1] Navigate to Advocacy > Issues & Actions> Actions; to view the advocacy module’s “listing screen,” which displays all of the actions taken via online advocacy forms.



[Step 2] On the top RIGHT-hand side, you will see a link for ADVANCED FILTERS:

[Step 3] Within the Advanced Filters, you will see options to use location to narrow the scope of the actions taken by your supporters; don't forget to hit APPLY:

Now that you have followed the above steps, you should be able to manage using the location filters within the advocacy actions section. It will help you gain a better understanding of your advocates as you continually create a picture of their online and offline participation.
